Introduced amendment to California Privacy Rights Act extending employment and business-to-business data exemptions
On 18 February 2022, Assembly Bills 2871 and 2891 are introduced in the Californian State Legislature, aiming to extend the employment and business-to-business data exemptions in the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). According to the Bills, the processing of personal information in employment and business-to-business contexts shall not be required to comply with the CPRA from 1 January 2023. AB 2871 would extend the exemptions indefinitely, while AB 2891 would extend such exemptions until 1 January 2026.
