Bill on Fairness of Online Platform Intermediary Transactions including competition authority governance was introduced to National Assembly

On 9 December 2025, the Bill on Fairness of Online Platform Intermediary Transactions was introduced in the National Assembly. The Bill changes the governance framework of competition enforcement by granting the Fair Trade Commission specific jurisdiction over online platform intermediary transactions. It authorises investigations into violations, the issuance of corrective orders and corrective recommendations, the imposition of administrative fines, and the operation of consent decision procedures. The Bill also establishes an Online Platform Intermediary Transaction Dispute Mediation Committee within the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, defining its composition, authority, and procedures.
