Published METI Recommendations for strengthening cyber security measures

ON 1 March 2022, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) published recommendations for strengthening the cyber security measures of critical infrastructure companies (and government agencies). Particularly, the document aims to deepen the awareness about cyber attacks and advice on the measures to strengthen the dedicated defences. The METI recommends measures for risk reduction, early detection and response and recovery in case of incident. For instance, the METI recommends having complex passwords, monitor access authority, use multi-factor authentication, delete superfluous accounts, understand the features of employed technical devices, train the staff to security-proof behaviour, plan data backups and prepare an in-house communication system.
