Description

CMA clearance decision on Microsoft/Nuance merger

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has cleared the acquisition by Microsoft Corporate of Nuance Communications, Inc. As a decision in Phase 1 of the investigation, the CMA claimed that the merger does not cause a realistic prospect of a substantial lessening of competition in any market in the United Kingdom. In particular, a substantial lessening of competition is not realistic in the healthcare transcription software market, the C&C software market and the administration tools, patient engagement tools and remote healthcare tools markets.
