Minister of Communications Declaration No. 87 of 2025 regarding dispensation with license requirement for social media and instant messaging service providers enters into force

On 1 January 2026, the Minister of Communications Declaration No. 87 of 2025 regarding dispensation with the license requirement for social media and instant messaging service providers under the Communications and Multimedia (Licensing) Regulations 2000 enters into force. As of this date, such persons will be deemed registered without having to apply for a licence. Those already registered will retain their licence until expiry, at which point they will also be deemed registered. The declaration does not apply to any person exempted under paragraphs 5(e) and (f) of the Communications and Multimedia (Licensing) (Exemption) Order 2000.
