Description

National Institute of Standards and Technology opened consultation on Cybersecurity framework profile for Artificial Intelligence

On 16 December 2025, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) opened a public consultation on the cybersecurity framework profile for Artificial Intelligence (AI), until 30 January 2026. The profile applies to organisations across sectors that develop, deploy, secure, or defend against AI systems. It introduces voluntary, technology-neutral guidance aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0. The profile seeks to support organisations in clarifying AI-related cybersecurity objectives under the Framework and in integrating AI into security strategies while addressing associated risks. The profile focuses on securing AI systems, using AI to enhance cybersecurity operations, and strengthening resilience against AI-enabled cyber threats. It addresses both the cybersecurity risks introduced by AI and the challenges of deploying AI as part of defensive cyber practices.
