On 2 December 2025, the Department of Consumer Protection issued a cease and desist order against financial service provider Robinhood over unlicensed online gambling. The Department claims that Robinhood conducts sports wagering through its online sports contracts, in violation of the Connecticut General Statutes and the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act. Since Robinhood does not hold an online gaming operator's license, the Department ordered the company to immediately cease advertising or offering online sports contracts, while allowing Connecticut residents to withdraw any funds currently held by it.
