Stop Sextortion Act (SB 3398) was introduced to Senate

On 9 December 2025, the Stop Sextortion Act (SB 3398) was introduced to the Senate. The Act would criminalise the threat to distribute visual depictions of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) with the intent to intimidate, coerce, extort, or cause emotional distress to a person. Further, the Act would raise the maximum prison term for offenders to 10 years. According to the co-sponsors of the bill, the changes are intended to address both financially motivated sextortion and sadistic online exploitation.
