United Kingdom: Office of Communications expanded investigation into Cyberitic's compliance with duty to provide response to notices under Online Safety Act

Description

Office of Communications expanded investigation into Cyberitic's compliance with duty to provide response to notices under Online Safety Act

On 20 November 2025, the Office of Communications (Ofcom) expanded its investigation into Cyberitic, after the company failed to respond to a formal information notice issued under section 100 of the Online Safety Act on 10 September 2025. The provision allows Ofcom to require any relevant service to provide or enable real-time access to information needed to carry out its online safety functions. In September, Ofcom, under its enforcement programme to protect children from encountering pornographic content through the use of age assurance, opened an investigation into Cyberitic in relation to the adult service it operates titled ShesFreaky. Under the expanded investigation, Ofcom will examine whether Cyberitic has failed to comply with its duty to provide accurate information in response to the notices under the Act.
