eSafety Commissioner and Media Commission signed Memorandum of Understanding on online safety cooperation

On 4 December 2025, Australia’s eSafety Commissioner and Ireland’s Media Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on online safety cooperation to formalise collaboration on platform accountability and safety by design. The MOU sets out cooperation mechanisms, including research sharing, policy exchange, co-hosted workshops, and support for enforcement and compliance activities within each regulator’s mandate. It outlines shared priorities such as systemic risk reduction, digital literacy, transparent service standards, and protections for children and other vulnerable users, including collaboration on age-assurance technologies. It also records cooperation across emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, and other future digital environments.
