On 16 July 2021, China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, in cooperation with a number of other government and state authorities, has issued the Guiding Opinions on Safeguarding Labour Security Rights and Interests under New Forms of Employment, which contains guidelines for the regulation of the employment of platform workers. Specifically, the Guiding Opinions suggest that platform employment should be standardized and clarified, that employment should be fair and that discrimination should be eliminated. Furthermore, the responsibility for the protection of the rights of platform workers should be clearly delegated and any shortcomings in that area should be set off by a better labour system in general.
