Description

Authorites from Germany, Switzerland, Eurojust, and Europol removed cryptocurrency mixing service over alleged money laundering activities

On 1 December 2025, authorities from Germany and Switzerland, alongside Eurojust and Europol, announced the removal of a cryptocurrency mixing service. During an action week from 24 to 28 November, the joint investigation resulted in the seizure of three servers and the service's domain, along with over 12 terabytes of data. More than EUR 25 million in cryptocurrency was also seized. The service, which operated on both the regular and dark web, was suspected of facilitating money laundering for various criminal activities, including drug trafficking, weapons trafficking, online fraud, and cybercrimes. Its function was to obscure the origin of funds by pooling and redistributing cryptocurrencies from users at random, making tracing difficult. Following the action, a seizure banner was placed on the service's website.
