On 23 November 2025, Public Safety Canada released the Group of Seven (G7) Interior and Security Ministers Communique, which included commitments on cybercrime, cybersecurity, and online harms. The Communique recognised ransomware, cyberscams, fraud and cryptocurrency theft, endorsed the G7 Cybersecurity Working Group statements on Internet of Things Security and Software Bill of Materials for Artificial Intelligence, and highlighted the dual use of Artificial Intelligence in cyber operations. It addressed terrorist and violent extremist content online, including dissemination, platform migration, algorithmic amplification, livestreaming, and emerging Artificial Intelligence risks, and referenced voluntary cooperation under frameworks such as the Christchurch Call. It reaffirmed efforts to prevent the use of online platforms for migrant smuggling through a call to action inviting social media companies to develop voluntary principles. It addressed digital methods used for transnational repression, including spyware, doxing, online surveillance, and harassment, and announced the Digital TNR Detection Academy under the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism. It expressed concern about the misuse of new technologies for child sexual exploitation and abuse, including Artificial Intelligence-generated material and livestreamed abuse, and called on technology companies to adopt detection and removal technologies.
