On 21 November 2025, the Attorney General announced a settlement with Jam City, resolving allegations that the company violated the California Consumer Privacy Act by failing to offer consumers methods to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information across 21 mobile gaming applications. The Attorney General stated that Jam City generates revenue through disclosing personal information for advertising and that Jam City and its advertising technology partners use consumer information to display personalised advertisements within Jam City games. The investigation found that Jam City did not provide California Consumer Privacy Act-compliant opt-out mechanisms and that some applications sold or shared the personal information of consumers at least 13 and less than 16 years old without the affirmative opt-in consent required for minors under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Under the settlement, Jam City must pay USD 1.4 million in civil penalties, must provide in-application opt-out methods, and must not sell or share the personal information of consumers at least 13 and less than 16 years old without affirmative opt-in consent.
