United States, Switzerland and Liechtenstein announced Framework for Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair, and Balanced Trade including cross-border data transfers

On 14 November 2025, the United States, Switzerland and Liechtenstein announced a Framework for negotiating an Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair, and Balanced Trade including cross-border data transfers. As part of the Framework, the participants express their intention to facilitate trust cross-border data flows and address data localisation requirements, taking into account legitimate public policy objectives. Further, the participants intend to explore mechanisms for interoperability between their privacy frameworks to facilitate secure cross-border data transfers.
