Turkiye: Adopted Recommendations on data protection in artificial intelligence

On 15 September 2021, the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority adopted recommendations on personal data protection in artificial intelligence. The recommendations contain general recommendations, recommendations for developers and recommendations for decisionmakers. General recommendations include a privacy impact assessment in high risk AI practices, anonymisation for AI data processing and the determination of the data controller and processor status. Recommendations for developers include ensuring user rights to terminate data processing, notifying users of data processing methods and obtaining user consent. Recommendations for decisionmakers include consulting supervisory authorities, allowing human intervention in the AI decision process and enabling users to refute the recommendations of the AI.
