On 21 August 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology opened a consultation on the amendment to the Law on Intellectual Property, including patent protection regulation, until 21 September 2025. The amendment enables the patenting of computer programs and algorithms embedded in technical devices, extends the disclosure grace period for industrial designs to six months, and allows state-funded research organisations to register resulting inventions. The amendments introduce financial mechanisms, including the use of patent rights as collateral for bank loans, tax deductions for patent creation expenses, and preferential tax rates for patent exploitation income. The amendment also excludes non-human authored inventions from patent protection, and establishes provisions for patent mortgage and transfer.
