China: Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced pilot programme on cybersecurity insurance services

On 4 November 2025, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a joint notice launching the second batch of pilot programmes for cybersecurity insurance services. The program applies to sectors including telecommunications, internet, industry, finance, and other critical industries, including energy and healthcare. It seeks to expand cybersecurity insurance coverage, strengthen standards, and promote innovation in risk management and financial–technology integration. Participating insurers, cybersecurity firms, and enterprises are required to submit pilot proposals by 31 December 2025.
