United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand adopted joint statement on telecommunications security

On 6 November 2025, telecommunications regulators and agencies of the United Kingdom (Ofcom), the United States (Federal Communications Commission), Canada (Innovation, Science and Economic Development), Australia (Department of Home Affairs), and New Zealand (National Cyber Security Centre) adopted a joint statement reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthened cooperation in response to evolving threats and challenges in the telecommunications sector. The statement underscored their collective objective to deter malicious actors, promote the exchange of best practices, and safeguard the integrity of global communications infrastructure. The authorities committed to regular meetings to exchange information on security challenges and regulatory developments; enhance cooperation on network reliability and integrity; share information on emerging threats and fraud techniques, including those related to artificial intelligence; and promote international standards in network defence and supply chain security for critical telecommunications infrastructure such as subsea cables and radio frequency devices
