National Telecommunications Agency issued a report on illegal sale of telecommunications products on e-commerce platforms

On 4 November 2025, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) issued a report following its investigation into the authorisation and sale of telecommunications products on e-commerce platforms. Launched in 2024, the investigation reviewed 23’062 advertisements, of which only 3’678 included a homologation code verified in Anatel’s official database. Enforcement actions focused on the platforms Mercado Livre, Amazon, Shopee, and others. In November 2024, inspections involving 48 Anatel officials and 20 staff from the Federal Revenue Service’s Division for the Repression of Smuggling and Customs Evasion led to the seizure of 22’000 products valued at BRL 3 million. Further inspections in May 2025 focused on Amazon, Mercado Livre, and Shopee, resulting in fines exceeding BRL 7 million. In 2025, Regulatron was upgraded to expand its monitoring to include AliExpress and Temu alongside existing platforms.
