Office of Privacy Commissioner announced Global Privacy Enforcement Network inquiry into websites and mobile applications commonly used by children

On 3 November 2025, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) announced its participation in the 2025 Global Privacy Enforcement Network sweep, which will examine websites and apps commonly used by children. The inquiry, involving over 30 privacy authorities, will assess data collection, transparency, age assurance measures, and controls limiting children’s data collection. The sweep aims to promote privacy-friendly digital design and reduce risks such as tracking, profiling, and harmful content exposure. The OPC will contribute findings to a forthcoming report.
