Description

National Assembly amended Cybersecurity Law to include ban on using AI or deepfakes to impersonate people and spread false information

On 31 October 2025, the National Assembly proposed amendments to the Draft Cybersecurity Law, following the introduction of the proposal on the same day. The amendment explicitly prohibits the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or deepfake technology to impersonate individuals or organisations, spread false information, commit fraud, or cause reputational harm. It also bans the collection, exploitation, or sale of children’s personal data without guardian consent, restricts the use of cryptocurrencies and anonymous financial systems for fraud or money laundering, and requires Internet of Things (IoT) devices to obtain cybersecurity certification before being placed on the market.
