Attorney General announced investigation into Lorex Technology regarding alleged deceptive sale of goods known to pose national security and privacy risks

On 29 October 2025, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced an investigation into Lorex Technology concerning the potential sale of security cameras from a system linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The Attorney General's Office stated that it would investigate whether Lorex is deceptively marketing products as secure and safe for residential use, despite knowledge of their national security and privacy risks. This follows reports that Lorex, although acquired by Taiwan-based Skywatch, continues to receive key components from Dahua, a company designated as a "Chinese military company" by the US Department of War.
