On 20 February 2025, the Nigerian Digital Sovereignty and Fair Data Compensation Bill, 2025 (SB. 722) was introduced in the Senate. The Bill would mandate that any foreign data company benefiting from Nigeria’s digital market must establish an office within Nigeria to operate in the country.
