Australia: eSafety Commissioner issues legal notice to Glimpse.AI (Nomi) regarding compliance with Basic Online Safety Expectations

On 23 October 2025, Australia’s eSafety Commissioner issued a legal notice to the AI companion provider Glimpse.AI (Nomi). The notice was issued under Australia’s Online Safety Act, which requires the company to detail the measures it is taking to protect children from online harms, including sexually explicit conversations and images, suicidal ideation, and self-harm, thus demonstrating compliance with the Government’s Basic Online Safety Expectations Determination. Failure to comply with the notice could result in enforcement action.
