Texas Attorney General announced expanded investigation into Discord over harmful content affecting minors

On 9 October 2025, the Texas Attorney General announced the expansion of investigation under the Securing Children Online Through Parental Empowerment (SCOPE) Act into Discord amid concerns over addiction, sexual exploitation, and extremist content affecting minors. In December 2024, the Attorney General also launched an investigation into Discord regarding its privacy and safety practices for minors. The expanded investigation involves a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) examining extremist content, grooming gangs, nihilistic violence, and platform addictiveness.
