Description

Fair Trade Commission ruling against Spotify AB with fine of KRW 1 million over subscription cancellations

On 15 October 2025, the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) issued a ruling against Spotify AB over subscription cancellations with KRW 1 million. The ruling found that Spotify AB violated the E-Commerce Act by failing to disclose operator identity and withdrawal information on its Korean online platform. The ruling affects the subscription-based streaming service, Spotify Premium. It was noted that Spotify did not provide the required business details, including the representative’s name, address, or registration number and failed to inform users of their cancellation rights. The Commission issued a corrective order, and Spotify has since corrected its disclosures and updated user guidance on withdrawal procedures.
