European Commission opened investigation into Samsung's proposed acquisition of FläktGroup Holding GmbH

On 19 September 2025, the European Commission opened an investigation into Samsung Electronics Co.'s proposed acquisition of all the shares in FläktGroup Holding GmbH through its European subsidiary. The transaction would give Samsung sole control of the German air technology firm, which develops and markets indoor air comfort and fire safety systems mainly for non-residential use. The deal would expand Samsung’s portfolio beyond consumer electronics, information technology systems, semiconductors, and automotive products into commercial air technology solutions. The Commission will review the transaction under Article 3(1)(b) of the EU Merger Regulation on the control of concentrations between undertakings to assess its impact on competition within the European Economic Area.
