Measures on the Administration of Online Performance Management Establishments

On 30 August 2021, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism adopted the Measures on the Administration of Online Performance Management Establishments, which came into effect on the same day. The Measures apply to so-called online performance management platforms, which are businesses engaged in organizing online performances or managing online performers. The Measures require such platforms to obtain a commercial performance licence. Further, the Measures lay down a number of additional obligations for platforms, such as verifying the identity of online performers, restricting services provided to minors, and monitoring the legality of the content of online performances.
