On 1 January 2027, the California Artificial Intelligence (AI) Transparency Act, including design requirements for large online platforms and covered providers enter into force. It provides that large online platforms must detect and disclose provenance data embedded in content distributed on their services. It also requires the platforms to provide clear user interfaces displaying whether the content was AI-generated or altered. It also requires them to allow users to inspect, download, or access provenance data through linked sources, ensuring transparency in content authenticity.
