European Commission requested information from Google on its age verification systems and measures to prevent minors from accessing illegal products

On 10 October 2025, the European Commission requested information from Google regarding its age verification systems and measures to prevent minors from accessing illegal products, as required under the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the guidelines on the protection of minors. Google is also required to provide information on how it manages the risk of users, including minors, downloading illegal or harmful applications, such as gambling or “nudify” apps, and how age ratings are applied to apps available on the app store.
