European Union: European Commission requested information from Apple on its age verification systems and measures to prevent minors from accessing harmful applications

On 10 October 2025, the European Commission requested information from Apple regarding its age verification systems and measures to prevent minors from accessing illegal products, as required under the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the guidelines on the protection of minors. Apple also has to provide information on policies implemented App Store to manage the risk of users, including minors, downloading illegal or harmful applications, such as gambling or “nudify” apps, and how age ratings are applied to apps offered on the platform.
