European Union: European Commission requested information from YouTube on its age verification systems and recommender systems

On 10 October 2025, the European Commission requested information from YouTube regarding its age verification systems to assess compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the guidelines on the protection of minors. Furthermore, YouTube is required to provide additional information about its recommender system, alongside details on its age assurance mechanisms, following reports of harmful content being made available to minors.
