On 10 February 2022, the Data Elimination and Limiting Extensive Tracking and Exchange Act (S.3627) is introduced in the United States Senate by Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA). The Act aims to create a centralized system under which individuals could request the automatic deletion of their data. Furthermore, the Act would allow individuals to choose to be added to a “do not track list” to prevent the collection of their data. The Act would direct the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to create an online section where individuals could submit a one-time data deletion request to all registered entities collecting their data.
