Brazil-UK signed Memorandum of Understanding on digital governance

On 18 September 2025, the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) of Brazil and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) of the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the 47th Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) in Seoul, South Korea, to promote mutual cooperation in digital governance with a focus on personal data protection and legal certainty. The MOU establishes provisions for the exchange of regulatory and oversight experiences, information sharing on ongoing investigations, joint oversight and investigation activities, and mutual support in investigative matters. It further provides for the development of joint education, training, and awareness-raising programmes, as well as collaborative research projects.
