Description

Brazil-Angola signed Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in personal data protection

On 18 September 2025, the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) of Brazil and the Data Protection Agency (APD) of the Republic of Angola signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the 47th Global Privacy Assembly in Seoul, South Korea. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is non-binding and establishes cooperation in personal data protection. It provides for the exchange of information on investigations, the conduct of joint inspections, mutual technical support, the development of education, training, and awareness programmes, and the promotion of joint research projects. It also establishes a framework for the harmonisation of regulatory structures and public policies among Portuguese-speaking jurisdictions. The MOU is the first formal cooperation instrument signed between the ANPD and a Portuguese-speaking African regulatory authority.
