Cyberspace Administration of China issued preliminary findings following investigation into Xiaohongshu platform over alleged failure to fulfil information content management responsibilities

On 11 September 2025, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued an interim ruling in its investigation of the Xiaohongshu platform. The CAC stated that the platform did not adequately manage information content, citing the frequent placement of celebrity updates and trivial terms in prominent positions on the hot search list. According to the Regulations on the Ecological Governance of Network Information Content, the CAC instructed the Shanghai Cyberspace Administration to conduct interviews, issue corrective orders within a specified timeframe, issue warnings, and hold relevant parties accountable.
