On 11 September 2025, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) released the second batch of typical cases under its campaign clear and bright, optimising the business network environment. The enforcement focused on practices that undermine the online business environment, targeting illegal and irregular accounts across platforms including WeChat, Weibo, Douyin, Toutiao, Baidu and Xiaohongshu. The cases involved accounts coercing companies into paid collaborations through negative publications and extortionate demands, others distorting corporate financial information to generate traffic and damage reputations, and some fabricating false reports on banks, trusts, and other financial institutions, disrupting operations and market stability. The CAC also cited accounts promoting biased content to disparage competitors’ cosmetic products, misleading consumers, and undermining fair competition. It confirmed that the accounts concerned were closed, banned, or blacklisted in line with legal and contractual requirements.
