Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology announced guidelines on obligations of high-impact AI providers

On 15 January 2025, the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology (MSICT) announced the guideline on obligations of high-impact artificial intelligence (AI) providers pursuant to Article 34 of the Framework Act on the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and Creation of a Trust Foundation (AI Framework Act), which specifies mandatory responsibilities of operators. The obligations include risk management measures, training, certification for reliability, user protection mechanisms, feedback systems, and publication of compliance information. The guideline also stipulates that compliance under other equivalent legal frameworks will be recognised as fulfilling obligations under the AI Framework Act, reducing duplication and regulatory overlap
