Republic of Korea: Presidential Decree No. 35735 establishing National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee entered into force

On 4 September 2025, the Presidential Decree No. 35735, promulgating the Regulations on the Establishment and Operation of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee, entered into force. The Decree was drafted by the State Council and issued under the seal of the President, with countersignatures by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Science and ICT. The Decree entered into force on the date of promulgation and repealed the prior Regulations on the Establishment and Operation of the National Artificial Intelligence Committee. Transitional measures were introduced to transfer all affairs from the former Committee to the newly established National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee. Prior deliberations, resolutions, and acts under the former framework were recognised as valid under the new Committee. The terms of serving members appointed under the former framework expired immediately before enforcement. The existing support team was converted into the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee Support Team with continuity of affairs and budget. Civil servants or officers dispatched or concurrently serving in the former support structure were deemed reassigned under the new Committee’s support system.
