On 27 August 2025, the Senate adopted the Bill on the protection of children and adolescents in digital environments (PL 2628/2022). The Bill requires that digital products and services directed at or accessible to children and adolescents ensure a high level of privacy, data protection and security, guided by the principle of the child’s best interest and consistent with the Child and Adolescent Statute and the General Data Protection Law, It also affirms the role of parents and guardians in educating, guiding and supervising minors’ internet use through appropriate parental control tools. From the design stage, providers must apply default settings that maximise privacy and personal data protection, taking into account the child’s evolving autonomy and development.
