Description

National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency opened investigation into the creation of two joint ventures by Itissalat Al-Maghrib and Wana Corporate following notification of an economic concentration

On 20 May 2025, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) opened an investigation into the economic concentration involving Itissalat Al-Maghrib (IAM) and Wana Corporate (WANA). This comes following their notification under Law No. 104-12 on freedom of pricing and competition, and Law No. 24-96 on post and telecommunications. The notification concerned the creation of two joint ventures, one focused on the deployment of passive fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructures and the other on the deployment of passive mobile telephone infrastructures, with each joint venture to operate as an autonomous economic entity with its own human, material, and financial resources, subject to rules of objectivity and non-discrimination in their dealings with telecommunications operators, including their parent companies.
