On 12 August 2025, a Bill to establish protections for children in digital environments and responsibilities for technology providers (PL 3910/2025), including data protection regulation, was introduced to the Chamber of Deputies. The Bill would grant minors from the age of 16 a right to be forgotten online, allowing them to request the removal of images, videos, or personal information from platforms, search engines, and social networks, with obligations applying even after they reach adulthood if the material could cause harm. It would also prohibit profiling for targeted advertising to children and adolescents, including the use of emotional analysis, augmented or virtual reality, and bans creating behavioural profiles from personal data, including that obtained during age verification. Parental control tools would have to be configured by default to the highest level of privacy and security. Non-compliance would result in warnings, fines of up to 10% of revenue or per-user fines capped at BRL 50 million, suspension, or prohibition of activities, with foreign companies jointly liable with local entities.
