United States of America: Florida Attorney General filed lawsuit against WebGroup Czech Republic over alleged failure to implement age verification mechanisms

On 5 August 2025, the Florida Office of the Attorney General filed a lawsuit against WebGroup Czech Republic, operating XVideos, for alleged violations of House Bill 3 (HB 3) and the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA). HB 3, which entered into force on 1 January 2025, mandates that commercial distributors of sexually explicit material harmful to minors implement age-verification mechanisms to restrict access to individuals aged 18 years or older. The Attorney General alleged that XVideos failed to implement such measures, thereby permitting unrestricted access to pornographic material by Florida users, including minors. The legal action seeks injunctive relief to compel the operator to comply with statutory requirements under HB 3 and FDUTPA.
