On 4 August 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the People’s Republic of China issued a formal notice to 23 mobile applications and software development kits (SDKs) found to be in breach of national requirements for data governance and personal information protection. The MIIT’s compliance inspection found multiple categories of violations, including unauthorised or excessive collection of personal information, frequent and coercive permission requests, and atypical behaviour of in-app information windows, such as uncontrollable redirects or inability to close. It also identified SDKs failing to comply with mandatory disclosure obligations concerning their data processing practices. The affected mobile applications were distributed through various official app distribution platforms, including the App Store, OPPO Software Store, vivo App Store, Samsung App Store, Xiaomi App Store, TapTap, and other channels, while the SDKs were primarily distributed via developer websites. The SDKs identified with non-compliance included Huiying Advertising SDK, Voice Red Packet SDK, Guowan Game Co-operation SDK, Mosken Android SDK, Mudu Live Player SDK, Juxing Short Drama SDK, and NSAGClient-SDK. The APPs and SDKs identified are required to correct their practices.
