Description

Validation and Evaluation for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence Act was introduced to the Senate (Bill No S.2615)

On 31 July 2025, the Validation and Evaluation for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act was introduced to the United States Senate. The Act includes provisions to develop voluntary, consensus-based guidelines for internal and external assurance of AI systems. The Act applies to developers, deployers, and independent evaluators of AI, aiming to enhance trust, accountability, and risk management without mandating specific technologies. It establishes an advisory committee to recommend qualifications for artificial intelligence assurance professionals and requires the Secretary of Commerce to study the sector’s capabilities and report to Congress. The National Institute of Standards and Technology is also required to issue the initial guidelines within one year and update them regularly.
