On 30 June 2025, the Governor of Louisiana signed House Bill No. 570 into law, thereby enacting it as Act No. 481 of the 2025 Regular Session. The Act amends Section 2 of Act No. 656 (2024) and enacts R.S. 51:1771–1775 (Protection of Children on Applications), establishing obligations for covered application store providers and developers regarding applications accessible to minors. It requires age-verification using commercially available methods, verifiable parental consent before minors may download or purchase applications, and renewed consent upon significant changes. Furthermore, developers must verify age categories via store-shared data, enforce parental-consent rules, apply industry standards for age ratings and content descriptions, and adopt safety defaults. The Act limits data use, prohibits contractual enforcement against minors without verified consent, and authorises the Attorney General to issue notice with a 45-day cure period and pursue civil penalties up to USD 10'000 per violation and USD 5'000 for violating orders. The Act enters into force on 1 July 2026.
