UK Prime Minister announces new "Brexit Freedoms" Bill

On 31 January 2022, the UK Prime Minister announced that the "Brexit Freedoms" Bill will be introduced to Parliament. The bill aims to end the "special status" of EU laws still being applied in the UK, concerning different sectors including the digital economy. With regards to digital policy, the bill aims to facilitate the adaptation of laws, practices, and policies regarding data protection and artificial intelligence. The goal is to create a regulatory framework that is proportionate and less burdensome than the current regime influenced by EU regulation.
