Italy: Communications Regulatory Authority opened investigation into rapidgator platform's compliance with Law on copyright protection

On 10 July 2025, the Communications Regulatory Authority (AGCOM) opened an investigation after FAPAV, representing Sky Italia, reported that the website rapidgator was offering numerous copyrighted TV series without authorisation. The AGCOM confirmed the reported content was accessible and likely infringed copyright law, prompting the start of a fast-tracked procedure. The website is registered via a Bahamas-based privacy service and hosted in Amsterdam. Service providers in Italy can voluntarily block access to the site and notify AGCOM. The site’s operators have three working days to respond.
