European Commission closes consultation on the proposed acquisition of Downtown by Universal Music Group (Case M.11956)

On 26 June 2025, the European Commission closes a consultation on the proposed acquisition of Downtown by Universal Music Group (UMG) under the EU Merger Regulation. It was highlighted that UMG operates businesses in music recording, publishing, merchandising and audiovisual content, and Downtown provides artist and label services, music publishing, royalty collection and licensing services to independent record companies and artists.
